Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga is a more traditional form of yoga, dating back to the 15th Century. It is the base from which many of the new styles of yoga have evolved.

The word “hatha” comes from the Sanskrit terms “ha” meaning “sun” and “tha” meaning “moon”. The word “yoga” means union.

Hatha yoga balances the positive and negative polarities (or feminine and masculine), to purify both the body and the mind.

A slower paced form of yoga, it is easily accommodates for beginners. It combines asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (yogic breath control).

Hatha yoga was recognised as a preparation for meditation, cultivating a focused state and a deep sense of relaxation. It develops self discipline, serving as a great tool for coping with anxiety, stress and depression.

Asanas will develop flexibility, strength and balance of both the body and mind.
They can correct imbalances in the body, purify and tone the internal organs and aid disease prevention.

Pranayama works on the central nervous system and can affect your hormones, glands, circulation, digestion and respiratory problems.

Hatha yoga also opens the energy channels for deeper spiritual practices.
